Teaching with Raspberry Pi [DRAFT]

How to get started with Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a tiny powerful computer created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. This computer is designed for teaching both computer science and electronics to students.

Whilst we’ve had computers in the past, the real innovation of the Raspberry Pi been it’s low price and GPIO breakouts. The GPIO breakouts allow you to connect both sensors (things that sense the world) and actuators (things that affect the world) to the Raspberry Pi.

This course is designed to help you teach with the Raspberry Pi hardware, and use it's officially supported operating system Raspbian.

In this course you'll learn:

  • How to tie the Raspberry Pi to the STEM curriculum outcomes
  • Raspberry Pi Ecosystem and Hardware Introduction
  • How to connect, Accessories, Actuators and Sensors
  • How to program the Raspberry Pi in Scratch
  • How to program the Raspberry Pi using Python
  • Projects and Resources for use in the classroom
